"She delivered her baby in a forest shelter, with nothing but leaves and rainwater. No midwife. No sterile supplies. No one to help if something went wrong." In Chin State, displaced women face childbirth and menstruation without the most basic essentials.

The prolonged conflict in Chin State has forced women and girls into impossible circumstances. Pregnant mothers flee into forests and temporary camps where no health facilities exist. They deliver babies in unsanitary shelters without trained attendants, sterile supplies, or any safety net if complications arise. The risks of maternal and newborn infection—and death—multiply with every birth.

For adolescent girls, displacement brings a different kind of crisis. Without access to sanitary pads, soap, or even underwear, they face discomfort, shame, and health risks every month. Some hide during their periods rather than face the humiliation. Others develop infections from makeshift solutions. In the chaos of displacement, their most basic needs become invisible.
