Years of conflict in Kachin State have produced countless stories of women's suffering—and almost none of their strength. Mainstream narratives portray women as victims, never as the leaders, peacebuilders, and organizers they actually are. This erasure isn't just unfair; it's dangerous. When women's contributions are invisible, they're excluded from decision-making about crisis response and recovery. The very people holding communities together are shut out of the rooms where their futures are decided.
