"They told us to go back to military schools. We refused. Now we're building something of our own."

In Southern Shan State, young people are caught between armed groups and a failing education system. Clashes between the military and ethnic armed organizations have destroyed villages, displaced families, and closed schools. Many young people rejected military-controlled education as an act of civil disobedience—but that courage came at a cost. They now have nowhere to learn, no credentials to show, and few paths forward.

Some have been displaced multiple times. Others watched their villages burn. All of them made a choice to resist, and all of them need an alternative.
