"60% of the mangroves are gone. The floods get worse every year. But the communities that depend on this land haven't given up on it."

Myanmar's coastal and border regions face environmental devastation that intensifies every other crisis. In Tanintharyi alone, over 60% of mangrove forests have been lost in the past two decades. Without those natural barriers, communities face floods, landslides, and saltwater intrusion that destroy crops and contaminate drinking water.

Climate change makes it worse. Unsustainable resource exploitation makes it worse. Political instability has weakened local capacity to respond. Agricultural productivity has dropped. Families have been forced to abandon their homes—not just from conflict, but from land that can no longer sustain them.

This project addresses both the environmental crisis and the human crisis it creates. Restore the land. Train the communities. Create sustainable livelihoods that reduce pressure on natural resources rather than depleting them. Build a network of local environmental advocates who can continue the work long after the project ends.
