"First came the earthquake. Then came the airstrikes. The same communities are surviving both—and helping each other through."

On March 28, 2025, at 12:51 PM, a powerful earthquake struck Southern Shan State. More than 2,500 households were destroyed. At least 100 people died. Communities across Pinlaung, Inle, Kalaw, and beyond were left with collapsed homes, destroyed infrastructure, and severe shortages of clean water.

But this wasn't just a natural disaster. The Inle region already hosted large numbers of internally displaced persons fleeing conflict. And the communities now digging through rubble continue to face airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery bombardments. It's a crisis layered on a crisis—natural disaster compounding armed conflict.

Local people mobilized immediately to help each other. But the scale of devastation exceeds what communities can handle alone. This project channels support through trusted local networks, following a simple principle: people support people.
